How do I remove this bush from the ground?

I'm just recently started to remove this what looked to be a small easy to remove bush by door that has gotten in the way. I don't know why then previous owners would have it there. As I got to the bottom it looked pretty dug in there. Any options? I'm having trouble getting around it to get deep enough. Not much tools.
