Why do different football positions have different facemasks?

It is not so much by position as by choice. most lineman choose the full cage because of the contact and the full cage prevents them from being poked in the eyes (a frequent probkem in the NFL). Kickers use the one bar mask because they are rarely hit, and the cages are annoying.
